Established in 1993, Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) is a community-based non-profit organization whose mission is to empower entrepreneurs and community partners to transform low-income neighborhoods from within. NDC reaches about 850 Twin Cities entrepreneurs, 93% of whom are Black, brown, immigrants, or Indigenous, each year.
NDC empowers entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses, create jobs, build wealth, and transform their communities through four integrated programs, available for free or at a low cost:
Entrepreneur Training & Small Business Workshops, provided in five languages with 11 community partner organizations
Business Lending uses a character-based lending model to provide flexible loans of $5,000 to $250,000 to entrepreneurs who cannot obtain traditional bank loans
Technical Assistance for new and growing businesses in areas such as marketing, technology, management, accounting, and mental wellness
Business Incubators provide permanently affordable commercial space, with wrap-around business services, along key commercial corridors
Business Incubators owned and managed by NDC include Midtown Global Market in South Minneapolis, co-owned with Cultural Wellness Center, and Frogtown Square in Saint Paul. Frogtown Crossroads, NDC’s new headquarters, Entrepreneur Training Center, and business incubator, is located at University and Dale in St. Paul.
