When

Tuesday, July 30 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where

United Labor Centre 312 Central Avenue Southeast Minneapolis, MN 55415

(If you need accommodations such as an interpreter or other services to participate, please email julia.welleayres@hennepin.us)

What

A brief presentation by county housing staff will be followed by breakout discussions facilitated by community and industry leaders. The goal of these discussions will be to provide guidance and feedback to county leaders to support successful implementation of our new supportive housing funding strategy.

Background

Hennepin County and the Hennepin County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) guides investment of more than $130 million each year towards safe, stable housing for residents.

In March 2019, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, acting as the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, voted to approve new guidelines and criteria for funding supportive affordable housing development projects.

This new strategy aims to fill a critical gap in affordable housing by creating up to 1,000 new units of long-term supportive housing by 2030. Capital funding for this and other affordable housing strategies is considered each year by the HRA Board of Commissioners as part of the regular budgeting process.
