Letter to the Community
Dear Powderhorn Park Community,
A little over a week ago, a 19-year-old Powderhorn Park resident was shot and killed on near the intersection of 35th and Chicago. The Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association (PPNA) Board, first of all, wishes to extend its condolences to the family and friends of the victim of this shooting. As members of this community, we are saddened and outraged by what has happened. In the hopes of preventing further violence in our community, PPNA also wants to invite an ongoing, community-wide conversation about preventing violence and promoting neighborhood well-being.
The upcoming Community Gathering on January 28th at 6:30pm, a meeting geared to organizing community-driven committees, will also provide some time for sharing ideas about preventing violence. If you’re interested in working on a possible art project along Chicago or have ideas for addressing neighborhood safety and other concerns, please come to the Community Gathering. Together, we can try to prevent such senseless violence from happening again.
Sincerely,
The Board and Staff of Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association
